The Fourth of July is a United States holiday that represents the signing and impact of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Fourth of July became a celebrated holiday in the United States in 1941, but before this time, our Founding Fathers experienced freedom because the Revolutionary War. The Continental congress met on June 7th and voted for the Declaration of Independence on July 2nd, 1776. The Declaration was not formally enacted until July 4th.   

 

How people around the United States Celebrate the 4th:

People in the United States choose to celebrate the Fourth in a variety of different ways, a few of those ways are listed below:

  • Spending the day with friends and family
  • Going to a Fourth of July parade, celebration, and/or festival
