The Fourth of July became a celebrated holiday in the United States in 1941, but before this time, our Founding Fathers experienced freedom because the Revolutionary War. The Continental congress met on June 7^th and voted for the Declaration of Independence on July 2^nd, 1776. The Declaration was not formally enacted until July 4^th.

People in the United States choose to celebrate the Fourth in a variety of different ways, a few of those ways are listed below:

• Spending the day with friends and family
• Going to a Fourth of July parade, celebration, and/or festival
