Simpson Housing Earns 3-Star GRESB Rating for 2025
We’re proud to share that Simpson Housing has earned a 3-star rating (out of 5) and a score of 83 out of 100 on our 2025 GRESB Assessment! This is a substantial improvement over last year’s results, increasing by two stars and 20 points. Simpson ranks 41st out of the 145 participating residential entities in the Americas. This rating recognizes our ongoing commitment to sustainability, responsible management, and transparency across our portfolio.
The GRESB (formerly Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) is an independent, industry-leading framework that measures and benchmarks the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance of real estate companies and funds worldwide. This year, over 2,300 real estate portfolios were assessed by GRESB.
Think of GRESB as a sustainability report card—a way for investors, partners, and residents to understand how real estate organizations are performing when it comes to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
What GRESB Measures
Each year, participants submit detailed data outlining their sustainability practices and performance. GRESB evaluates companies across several key areas:
- Environmental Impact – Energy, water, and waste management efforts, including carbon footprint reduction and efficiency initiatives.
- Social Responsibility – Programs that support resident and employee well-being, health, safety, and community engagement.
- Governance – Corporate strategy, leadership accountability, and sustainability integration at the organizational level.
Simpson’s 2025 submission reflects our company-wide sustainability practices and includes 2024 utility usage and emissions data across all owned or partially-owned assets.
