Spring is just around the corner and you may be itching to get outdoors to walk around a little. This may be especially true if you live at one of our most walkable communities.
What qualifies as a walkable community?
According to Walk Score, walkability is all about convenience, quality of life and everything outside your door. Living within close proximity of the places and people you visit and see the most allows you to spend more time doing things other than commuting. And don’t forget the benefits walking instead of driving has on the environment! Not to mention the health benefits of walking which include reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, stronger bones, improved balance – and the list goes on.
Walk Scores are figured based on walking routes, nearby amenities, distance to those amenities, pedestrian friendliness, population and neighborhood boundary data. Simpson strives to provide our residents with a plethora of conveniences and walkability is just one of them. Here is a list of our top walkable communities based on their Walk Score*:
