On March 9, 2026, Domain Capital Group officially announced the closing of its acquisition of Simpson Housing from The State of Michigan Retirement Systems (SMRS). This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting new partnership — one that has actually been decades in the making.
A Relationship Built Over 30 Years
Domain Capital Group isn't new to Simpson. Their relationship with our leadership team stretches back more than 30 years, with senior Domain executives first advising Simpson during their time at PwC. Since 2008, Domain has served as our investment advisor, working alongside Simpson's executive team to guide portfolio growth, capital strategy, and operational performance. In many ways, this acquisition formalizes what has already been a deeply collaborative partnership. Domain knows our platform, our people, our values, and that continuity matters.
What This Means for Simpson
The most important thing to know: Simpson Housing will continue to operate as Simpson Housing. Our brand, our culture, and our leadership remain intact. Frank Rooney, Jr. will continue to lead the company as CEO, and the existing executive team remains in place. Day-to-day operations will continue without interruption.
