As we enter 2023, we want to take time to reflect on the events and milestones of 2022. Simpson experienced a lot of change last year at both the onsite and corporate level but with our Core Value of Collaboration in tow, we navigated those changes together and look forward to another prosperous year!
Below are just some of the 2022 events we look fondly back upon. Let’s take a trip down memory lane together…
Simpson’s 2022 started out with receiving industry recognition for our mission of providing award-winning customer service. We were named among the companies awarded Ellis Best in Class and received CEL's 2021 A List Award for the 18th consecutive year! Ellis Best in Class is based on resident touchpoint surveys and CEL’s A List Award is based on the annual REACT survey which we cover in more detail below.
And if we may insert a couple additional humble brags, we have a 4.0 average star rating for online reviews and an average resident survey loyalty score of 83% for 2022. We recognize that our residents have many options in apartment homes, and we are thrilled they decide to call a Simpson community their home.
We wouldn’t achieve these high scores without our employees, whether they are seasoned or new to the company. We gained 232 new employees and awarded 50 promotions. Our employees are Simpson’s greatest asset, and we continue to grow and recognize those who exemplify our Mission and Core Values.
We were finally able to hold corporate and onsite events again and took every opportunity to do so. Our company-wide Make a Difference Day resulted in 1,553 volunteer hours across 34 organizations! You can read more about that event and a few of our other favorites by following these links:

Chancery Village Apartments and Townhomes
Simpson welcomed a couple acquisitions and new developments to its portfolio in 2022. NoA on McNeil Townhomes + Flats in Austin, TX joined the Simpson family back in April and July brought us Brick Row in Richardson, TX. We broke ground on two new developments, The Camille Apartments in Bethesda, MD and Auden Apartments in Atlanta, GA. Then in late summer, we opened the doors at a third development at Passport Apartments in Herndon, VA. Click each community name to find out more!
In November, we also welcomed a new partnership with Move for Hunger. This nationwide organization collects food donations from people who are moving to help reduce food insecurity and waste. This partnership has led to Simpson residents and employees donating several hundred pounds of food to local food banks!
And finally, that brings us to the 2022 REACT Survey. Back at the top of this post, we mentioned that we received CEL’s A List Award for 2021. And no, 2021 is not a typo! Each year, CEL & Associates, Inc. (a third-party real estate consulting firm) conducts a resident satisfaction survey we lovingly refer to as REACT. This survey provides a benchmark for property management firms level of customer service. Companies who meet or exceed the award criteria receive the A List Award, which is announced the following year; we received the 2021 A List Award in March 2022.
The 2022 REACT Survey was conducted in October and November; click here to read more about the astounding 51% response rate (our highest response to date) and the lucky residents who won free rent for filling out this important survey. The survey isn’t just about winning an award for customer service, the information Simpson receives from the survey is a great tool to help focus on goals and continuous improvement for 2023.
